The association is a legally established social organization with the purpose of promoting academic research related to geoparks, landscape conservation, environmental education, community participation and landscape tourism.The tasks of the association are as follows:

1. Engage in research, evaluation and planning of resources related to geoparks.
    
2. Hold academic seminars and various promotional activities related to geoparks.
    
3. Undertake commissioned research and educational training.
    
4. Promote contact and cooperation between relevant domestic and foreign institutions.
    
5. Promote, counsel and operate undertakings related to geoparks.
