    Global Geoparks Network (GGN)

The purpose of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) is to help members promoting geoparks through networking activities and common experiences. We provide global geopark partners with opportunities for experience sharing and growth through observation, study, activities, conferences, etc., and promote the concept of geoparks to all parts of the world. By sharing geo-tourism in a specific geopark, it can provide information on how to maintain the environment and create local employment opportunities. Through experiential learning, it can also be used to discuss improvements to individual geoparks.

Through regular learning and shared interactions, the Global Geoparks Network provides a platform for Geopark experts, professionals and community members to collaborate and communicate, making each important geological, topographical and environmental feature widely known and generating knowledge and experience exchange with other Geoparks' personnel to grow together.

The Global Geoparks Network makes the implementation of protection policies for geological heritage possible and creates a local geo-related economy that aims at providing sustainable livelihoods for local residents. The means include geo-tourism, geo-products and socio-cultural activities to make local communities more sustainable.

As of December 2023, the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network comprises 195 member geoparks distributed across 50 countries and regions worldwide. Many other geoparks hold observer status and aspire to become formal members of the global geoparks community. The distribution is as follows:
